Share your screen without installing anything
Someone is helping you with your computer and wants to see the problem. You do not need to download a program, make an account, or give anyone a password. One web page does it.
The steps
- Open acrossview.com/share in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on your computer.
- Read the 9-digit ID on the page to the person helping you, on the phone or in a message.
- When their name appears, read the warning. If it is the person you asked for help, press Allow.
- Your browser asks what to share: your whole screen, one window, or one browser tab. Pick the smallest thing that shows the problem.
- Check that the six-digit security code on your screen is the one they read to you.
That is all. They see what you see, and you can talk, type in the chat, or turn on your camera. Press End whenever you want; the browser also shows a "sharing" bar for as long as it is on.
What they can and cannot do
- They can see the screen, window or tab you chose, and nothing else. If you share one window, your other windows stay private.
- They cannot move your mouse or type. From a browser, nobody can. Control is possible only with the Windows app, and only after you switch it on yourself.
- They cannot see your files, your passwords (fields show dots as usual), or anything after you end the session.
What is left on your computer afterwards
Nothing. There is no program, no account, no cookie that matters. The session's encryption keys were made in your browser for that session and are gone with it. We keep a record that a session happened (who connected to whom, when, how long), never what was on the screen.
If something looks wrong
If you did not ask anyone for help and a call tells you to open this page, hang up. No bank, courier company, police office or electricity board ever asks you to share your screen. The page says so in Hindi and English before every session. If money has already moved, call 1930. See staying safe.
Does it work on a phone?
Sharing a phone's screen is not supported by phone browsers. Watching someone else's screen from a phone works. See watching from your phone.
Can they hear my computer's sound?
In Chrome and Edge, if you tick "Share audio" when you choose what to share. In Firefox and Safari, no.
How long can a session last?
15 minutes without an account. If the person helping you has a free account, 60 minutes. You yourself never need an account.
