Did someone ask you to install AcrossView?
Use AcrossView only when you asked someone you trust for help. If a caller asked you to install it or share your screen, hang up.
Stop. This may be a scam.
No bank, police force, CBI, courier company, electricity board, insurer or government office will ever call and ask you to install an app or share your screen.
If a caller says your electricity will be cut, your KYC is incomplete, a parcel in your name was seized, or that you are under "digital arrest", hang up. Never tell anyone your ID, OTP, PIN or password.
If money has left your account, call 1930 at once or report it at cybercrime.gov.in.
How these scams work
The pattern is almost always the same, whatever the story.
A frightening call
A stranger creates urgency: a bill, a parcel, a blocked account, a police case.
"Install this app"
They ask you to install a remote-access app and read out its number, so they can "fix" or "verify" something.
They take over
Once they can see your screen, they watch you open your banking app or read your OTP, and move your money.
How AcrossView pushes back
- Every request shows who is asking, and "Identity not verified" when we have not checked them.
- A warning in English and Hindi appears before anything is shared.
- The Allow button waits five seconds, so you have a moment to think.
- Letting someone use your mouse and keyboard is a separate choice, and you can switch it off at any time.
- End session is always on your screen.
- During early access, only people we have given an access key can connect to anyone.
If it happened to you
- End the session in AcrossView, or simply turn off the internet.
- Call your bank on the number printed on your card and block your accounts and cards.
- Call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in. Speed matters for getting money back.
- Change the passwords you used while the scammer could see your screen.
- Tell us the AcrossView ID the scammer used and when. We will look into it and help the police with the records we keep.
